The Hockeycontractor Training Center is the only self-contained ice hockey training facility within an operating ice arena. Dedicated towards the development of athletes young and old, we specialize in the training and rehabilitation of athletes from beginner to professional. The format consists of one-on-one training sessions designed to provide the best possible instruction at the best possible value. Each student will be put through the Protential Development Program©, which incorporates the “Hockey Made Simple”© philosophy, involving simple techniques used toward maximizing each player’s skill potential.

The goal of the Hockeycontractor is to provide personal, one-on-one training for hockey players of all ages and skill levels, from beginner through professional, with the “Hockey Made Simple” philosophy in mind. This philosophy simply states that, simple skills require simple movements, and that in a high-paced physical game like ice hockey, you must avoid wasting energy. A good portion of this game is mental, so we have also created ways to develop our students’ minds so they can read then react in high-pressure situations. The Hockeycontractor is also dedicated towards the creation of the best possible athlete, and will instruct its’ students according to their personalities as well as abilities. The student’s leave their training sessions with a renewed confidence, knowing that they have progressed in such a short period of time, and have a visual record as proof. Since everyone may not be able to afford such a luxury, discount packages and business sponsorships are available for those who meet certain requirements. Steve Phillips and the Hockeycontractor will also be holding instructional classes and free seminars throughout the year in order to help parents, coaches, and players better understand the game of hockey.

The facility itself, although within an ice arena, has an artificial ice surface, which provides greater resistance to the student that will go unnoticed until they return to the standard ice surface. Resistance training is crucial in the development of muscle and strength, which are important requirements of such a high paced contact sport. More than 50% of your weight and muscle is contained in your legs. Along with your abdominals and low back, your legs provide the foundation for stability. Contrary to many athletes’ may think, having a huge chest and arms does not benefit an athlete who is required to be agile. Flexibility and leg strength are the two key ingredients in creating a successful ice hockey player. For this reason, the Hockeycontractor implements pliometric, isometric,  and core strength training into its regular skill development regimen, so as to produce a well-rounded athlete.

Specific Skill Training

1.    Power skating & Stopping: Synthetic surface is ideal for developing proper striding techniques, as well as improving the student’s ability to stop and start.

2.    Shooting: Accurate shooting comes from development of proper shooting skills. Our 3-camera system will allow the student to visually understand their shot and any corrections that need to be made. (Guaranteed to produce rapid results)

3.     Checking: With a combination of striding techniques and contact with the checking bag, students will quickly develop the skills needed to become a successful checker.

Although there are many hockey instructors around the world, there are several factors that make us unique. We do have a highly trained well experienced training staff with over 25yrs of professional experience, as well as a program designed to advance each student’s skill level, this is not uncommon. We are unique in the fact that we involve modern high tech video and computer analysis systems along with advanced radar technology in the instructional process. This will allow the student to better understand their abilities, as well as, have visual record so that they may chart their improvement. This will also allow the parents or a teammate to become involved at home with the student, as they view and notice the improvements that have been made. Having the praise of the instructor along with that of parents and peers proves more effective in increasing a student’s level of self-confidence, which is extremely important in player development.
