Phillips Hockey is  dedicated to  developing the skills of hockey players from beginners to professionals.  Originally opened in 1980, Phillips Hockey Shop was one of the largest hockey retail businesses in the Nation and was the main supplier for the Western United States and Japan. Closed in 1994 just prior to the influx of internet hockey retail stores, Phillips Hockey would lye dormant for several years as my family went into retirement,  my brother moved out-of-state, and I went off to play professional hockey. 

    After a very brief professional career, cut short by a rare intestinal disease which nearly cost me my life, I  returned to Southern California and began my coaching career with the Ventura Mariners Midget AAA team in 1997.  During the season I also began giving private instruction as well as running specialty camps and clinics for all ages and skill levels under the Phillips Hockey name. After several more years of coaching and instructing, Phillips Hockey began to grow to the point where I needed more space to operate. With limited ice time during the season I decided to build a hockey skill training facility with synthetic ice, shooting area, and advanced radar and video analysis equipment, which became known as the  Hockeycontractor Training Center.

    Now in our 10th year at Easy Street Arena, Phillips Hockey is continuing to grow with future plans for expansion already in the works. With over 1000 students, including several NHL draft picks, current professionals, as well as several top collegiate and junior hockey players, Phillips Hockey continues to  develop new methods of training young athletes and prepare them for successful futures. As coaches, parents, and instructors we have to remember that hockey is not only a game but a lesson in life and in order for a player to be successful he must be able to face challenges head on.
